Retirement for senior officials, says DHQ



The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) yesterday alleviated feelings of trepidation of mass retirement in the military. 

It was responding to gossipy tidbits about mass retirement in the military, following the arrangement of Maj.- Gen. Farouk Yahaya as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS). 

Yahaya, an individual from Regular Course 37, supplanted the late COAS, Lt.- Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, who passed on in a plane accident on May 21 in Kaduna. 

The media has been inundated with reports of firing of individuals from Courses 35, 36 and 37, who are for the most part Generals, in accordance with military custom.

Be that as it may, the Acting Director of Defense Media Operations, Brig.- Gen. Benard Onyeuko, told journalists yesterday in Abuja that retirement for senior officials is deliberate.
